Wanted

An authentic Italian restaurant located in Toronto is seeking a full-time Restaurant Manager. The candidate must be available to work weekends, night shifts, holidays, and additional hours as needed.

 

Reporting to the Restaurant General Manager/Assistant General Manager, the Restaurant Manager participates in overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the restaurant. The Restaurant Manager's primary focus is leading all of the members of the FOH team to curate a consistently exceptional experience for all guests. As an important member of the location leadership team there is also a focus on budgets, inventory control, recruiting, training, daily coaching, maintaining a strong team of employees and complying with all relevant government regulations and laws as well as Gruppo Terroni policies and procedures. The Restaurant Manager utilizes exceptional leadership and organizational skills to collaborate with the leadership team on training, development and effective and professional management of employees to ensure that daily tasks are being done in a timely and accurate manner. This is achieved by supporting individual and location performance goals, delivering positive feedback and creating a positive, professional and inclusive work environment. The Restaurant Manager follows the guidelines and directives of their GM/AGM in participating in monitoring the financial performance of the business in order to maintain optimal cost effectiveness. Legal compliance must be maintained in all areas of the business, including but not limited to labour and health and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Operations Management

  • Lead and ensure FOH staff are adhering to the Company's policies and standard operating procedures to meet all regulated requirements of the business.
  • Manage the success of the daily shifts by having a consistently positive presence on the floor leading staff.
  • Ensure that the location is always set up for service (lighting, music, cleanliness, server sections assigned, bar preparedness, etc.)
  • Schedule FOH as assigned.
  • Lead ongoing training for all FOH staff.
  • Perform inventory duties as assigned by GM/AGM
  • Collaborate with GM/AGM to ensure Bar & Beverage products are well stocked and inventory controlled to prevent loss
  • Hire and onboard FOH staff as assigned.
  • Participate in planning and leading Daily 15 briefings with staff.
  • Participate in the implementation and oversight of best practices for employees in order to improve business performance.
  • Participate in weekly management meetings and provide positive, constructive feedback on staff and any service or food related issues to the rest of the leadership team.
  • Manage ongoing compliance across all areas of the business with regard to health and safety regulations to help prevent accidents and injuries for employees and guests.
  • Ensure the company's preventive maintenance inspections and services are being conducted on a consistent basis.
  • Monitor food preparation and cleaning methods.
  • Inspect equipment and deliveries on a regular/daily basis.
  • Stay up to date with knowledge of all restaurant products and services.
  • Monitor customer feedback on products and services to identify needs for improvement by meeting with the management team on a regular basis.

 

Finance

  • Oversee the correct and accurate handling of monetary transactions.
  • Ensure all products and services are accurately accounted for and paid for.
  • Follow the General Manager's/Assistant General Managed guidelines and objective with respect to meeting the restaurant's operational budget for food and labour costs.
  • Perform financial administrative tasks as assigned such as weekly cash out reconciliation and payroll.

 

People & Culture

  • Lead and manage all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, traditions and organizational values in a consistent, professional and positive manner with all employees and guests.
  • Manage and mentor employees to help them meet their job expectations.
  • Observe and document employee performance and ensure that you are creating opportunities for continued performance improvement.
  • Support the Company's strategy to increase employee retention and decrease turnover.
  • Advance employees' knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs).
  • Guide, direct, train and give feedback to FOH employees.
  • Ensure that all FOH staff are consistently following all the correct service standards of expectation.
  • Participate in the delivery of the progressive discipline process to ensure prompt, fair and consistent corrective action for any and all violations of company policies, rules and procedures.
  • Follow the company's guidelines of official procedures for conflict management to handle and resolve personnel problems properly, professionally and efficiently.
  • Assist in the ongoing training of FOH staff with respect to our Gruppo Terroni standards and traditions.

 

Guest Experience

  • Have a consistent and inspired presence on the floor during day AND evening shifts to support and lead the consistent delivery of exceptional customer service to guests
  • Assist the GM/AGM in monitoring, evaluating and auditing food, beverage and service offerings to build and maintain customer loyalty and satisfaction.
  • Ensure quality control of all food and beverage offerings
  • Maintain an active, engaged & professional presence on the floor with all guests and staff during service hours
  • Lead by example for the entire FOH staff on the floor during service to ensure the best possible guest experience.
  • Maintain professional relationships with customers and staff at all times.
  • Share and promote Gruppo Terroni stories and our vision of hospitality to all guests and staff.
  • Committed to effective and timely response to guest recovery (service recovery) every shift. However, this is not to be taken as "fixed" or "exhaustive" and you will be expected to perform any

Requirements:                 

  • 3-5 years of work experience with restaurant management

·         completion of a college or other program related to hospitality or food and beverage service management
