Veterinarian – Emergency & Critical Care

Location: 580 SE Marine Dr, Vancouver, BC

Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: $60.00/hour + benefits

Job Responsibilities 

  • Perform comprehensive physical examinations and order/interpret diagnostic tests to identify illnesses, injuries, or abnormal conditions in patients.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools, including X-ray, ultrasound, and in-house lab testing, to support rapid and accurate decision-making in emergency cases.
  • Provide immediate treatment for critical patients, including prescribing medications, stabilizing fractures, dressing wounds, and performing emergency or scheduled surgeries.
  • Administer vaccinations and develop preventative health plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
  • Deliver a full range of veterinary services, including dental procedures, reproductive health care, and humane euthanasia when required.
  • Educate and counsel pet owners on nutrition, preventative care, post-treatment recovery, and ongoing wellness.
  • Address client concerns with compassion, professionalism, and clear communication, especially in high-stress situations.
  • Collaborate closely with veterinary technicians, assistants, and support staff to deliver coordinated, high-quality care.
  • Mentor and support team members through training, feedback, and skills development.
  • Maintain meticulous medical records and ensure compliance with veterinary ethics, best practices, and clinic protocols.
  • Oversee the overall operation of the animal clinic, ensuring smooth day-to-day functioning and high service standards.
  • Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control within all treatment and recovery areas.
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine.

 

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent.
  • Valid license to practice in Canada or eligibility to obtain.
  • Proven diagnostic skills and a strong passion for delivering exceptional patient care.
  • Commitment to practicing the highest standards of veterinary medicine and upholding professional ethics.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client service skills to build trust and long-term relationships.
  • Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to stay focused and perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
