Spokes Bicycle Rentals in Vancouver is hiring for a full time permanent Assistant Manager- retail operations. Spokes Bicycle Rentals has been serving Vancouver locals and tourists since 1938. Job description:
- Pay rate: $64,000 – $65,000 / year (To be negotiated)
- Benefits: Extended health Care
- Hours per week: 30, may have to work overtime if needed.
- Work Shift: It can be daytime, evening, weekends and/or holidays
- Location: 1798 W. Georgia St., Vancouver, BC
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Manage bike shop staff and assign daily duties, ensuring smooth rental, retail, and service operations
- Monitor market trends, seasonal demand, and local tourism activity to forecast bike rental volumes, retail sales, and service needs
- Determine bicycles, accessories, apparel, and related services to be offered based on customer preferences and industry trends
- Set and adjust pricing for rentals, repairs, tours, and retail products, and implement discount or credit policies when appropriate
- Determine staffing levels based on seasonal fluctuations, weather patterns, and event schedules
- Resolve operational issues, including customer requests, complaints, maintenance delays, and equipment shortages
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff in bike fitting, safety procedures, repair skills, and customer service standards
- Plan and oversee the scheduling of bike repairs, maintenance, and rental fleet turnover
- Organize and manage group bike tours, including route planning, safety briefings, and coordination with guides
- Ensure all bicycles and equipment meet safety standards, conducting regular inspections and addressing issues promptly
- Oversee inventory control for bikes, parts, and accessories, including ordering and vendor management
- Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate all daily shop operations, ensuring efficiency and a positive customer experience
- Coordinate daily customer service operations
- Staying up to date with detailed knowledge on new and existing products
Job requirements:
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- 2-3 years of experience in customer service/sales or in the bike rental industry
- Experience in the bike rental industry or related is an asset
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Good oral and written communication in English
- Proficient in MS Office
