Job description:
Matt’s Home Services is seeking a Cleaning Supervisor for Greater Vancouver area. It is a full-time, permanent position, 30-40 hours/week, offering $36.60/hourly and 2 weeks of vacation to start. Health and dental benefits.
As a Cleaning Supervisor, you will be expected to perform the following duties:
- Oversee and coordinate daily cleaning operations involving advanced laser cleaning equipment.
- Assign tasks to cleaning personnel and ensure efficient coverage and workflow at various job sites.
- Provide hands-on training to new and current employees in the safe, effective use of laser cleaning machines.
- Instruct staff on proper techniques for removing graffiti, rust, paint, grease, oxidation, surface treatments, and other coatings using laser technology.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert in laser cleaning, with specialized knowledge in the renovation and restoration of antiques, heritage sites, and vintage vehicles—including boats, cars, and aircraft.
- Monitor strict compliance with safety protocols, including the correct use of personal protective equipment and safe operation of laser devices.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets established standards of cleanliness, surface preparation, and finish quality.
- Supervise the correct handling, maintenance, and secure storage of laser cleaning equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of completed jobs, staff hours, incidents, and equipment maintenance.
- Prepare and submit regular progress updates and performance reports to senior management.
- Troubleshoot issues related to laser cleaning quality or team productivity, and implement effective solutions for challenging surfaces or unique coatings.
- Prepare job estimates, manage project budgets, and maintain financial records.
- Collect payments for specialized laser cleaning services when required.
- May operate laser cleaning equipment directly while instructing or demonstrating proper usage to team members.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education or technical certification is an asset.
- Minimum 2–3 years of supervisory experience in industrial cleaning, surface preparation, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with laser cleaning technology and familiarity with removing graffiti, rust, paint, oxidation, and surface coatings.
- In-depth knowledge of laser cleaning machines, their operation, safety procedures, and maintenance.
- Ability to train, coach, and mentor workers in the use of laser technology.
- Understanding of different surface materials and appropriate cleaning techniques for each.
- Comfortable interpreting technical manuals, safety data sheets (SDS), and operating procedures.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively and ensure job site efficiency.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality control.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, delegate responsibilities, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in working with complex or sensitive surfaces.
- Solid understanding of safety standards in industrial settings.
- Commitment to enforcing and following all safety protocols, including PPE usage and laser safety guidelines.
- Good verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with staff, clients, and management.
- Basic computer literacy for maintaining job logs, reports, and documentation.
- Ability to prepare cost estimates, maintain budgets, and process payments when needed.
- Must be able to lift equipment (up to 50 lbs), stand for extended periods, and work in various environmental conditions (indoor/outdoor).
- Comfortable working with protective gear, including laser safety goggles and gloves.
