Tasks
- Prepare a variety of surfaces by washing, scraping, sanding, patching, and priming to achieve a clean and smooth finish.
- Fill cracks, holes, and other imperfections to ensure even and durable paint application.
- Mix and tint paints or coatings to produce the required shades, tones, and finishes according to project needs.
- Apply paint, stain, lacquer, or protective coatings to interior and exterior walls, ceilings, and other structures using brushes, rollers, or spray systems.
- Remove old paint, wallpaper, or finishes and prepare surfaces using chemical or mechanical methods.
- Provide advice to clients on colour coordination, types of finishes, and suitable decorative materials.
- Set up and safely operate ladders, scaffolds, swing stages, and related equipment to reach high or difficult areas.
- Determine material quantities, cost estimates, and timelines for upcoming painting or decorating projects.
- Maintain painting tools and equipment, ensuring proper cleaning, storage, and safe handling of products and solvents.
- Mask or cover furniture, fixtures, and floors to prevent damage and maintain a tidy work environment.
- Inspect completed work for uniform coverage, colour accuracy, and adherence to client or project standards.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople to coordinate workflow and ensure timely project completion.
- Keep detailed records of materials used, time spent, and project status for reporting or billing purposes.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through professional conduct, quality and attention to detail.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area, disposing of debris and waste materials according to safety and environmental standards.
- Follow safety protocols and environmental regulations while handling coatings, ladders, and work platforms.
