We are currently hiring for a supervisor role to oversee and coordinate on-site operations for environmental remediation projects, including asbestos abatement and mold remediation, across residential, commercial, and light industrial properties. This position plays a critical role in ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with occupational health and environmental regulations.

Salary: $41.00 per hour

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Oversee operations for asbestos abatement and mold remediation projects across residential, commercial, and light industrial sites, assigning tasks based on project scope, site conditions, and established timelines.
  • Review hazardous material survey reports prior to project commencement and determine appropriate containment strategies, removal sequencing, and crew deployment to ensure efficient and controlled remediation.
  • Coordinate project execution with insurance adjusters, restoration contractors, property managers, and homeowners to confirm approved scope of work and address additional findings that arise during demolition or material removal.
  • Ensure proper installation of containment systems, negative air pressure units, decontamination chambers, and site safety controls before disturbance of asbestos-containing materials.
  • Monitor removal and disposal procedures to ensure safe handling, packaging, labeling, and transport of hazardous materials in accordance with provincial environmental and occupational health standards.
  • Identify and resolve site-specific challenges, including structural limitations, concealed materials, and occupancy considerations, while maintaining project timelines and safety compliance.
  • Provide on-site direction and technical guidance to abatement workers and labourers, reinforcing safe work practices, respiratory protection standards, and contamination control procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety briefings and ensure adherence to company protocols and WorkSafeBC requirements throughout all stages of remediation work.
  • Maintain accurate site documentation, including daily logs, photographic records, disposal manifests, clearance documentation, and progress reports for internal records and insurance submissions.
  • Participate in workforce planning by assessing crew performance, contributing to hiring decisions, and recommending training or scheduling adjustments to support current and upcoming projects.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support the safe and timely completion of projects while maintaining compliance and service standards.

 

Qualification & Requirements

 

  • Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience in asbestos abatement, mold remediation, hazardous materials handling, or a related construction trade.
  • Demonstrated supervisory or team-leading experience on active job sites, preferably in regulated or high-risk work environments.
  • Strong knowledge of asbestos containment procedures, decontamination processes, respiratory protection standards, and hazardous material handling protocols.
  • Thorough understanding of applicable occupational health and safety regulations (including provincial safety standards and safe disposal requirements).
  • Ability to conduct site hazard assessments and implement appropriate risk-control measures before and during remediation activities.
  • Experience ensuring proper setup of containment barriers, negative air systems, and controlled work zones.
  • Strong commitment to safety leadership, with the ability to enforce compliance and stop work when unsafe conditions are identified.
  • Effective verbal communication skills to clearly direct crews, conduct safety briefings, and coordinate with contractors and clients.
  • Proven organizational and documentation skills, including maintaining daily logs, safety records, and disposal documentation.
