Position:                                      Dental Assistant

Duration:                                     Permanent, Full-Time 

Hours:                                         32/week Minimum in a week

Salary:                                         $36.70/hr

Overtime:                                     As per provincial standards - $55.05 after 8 hrs/day, 40 hrs/week

Observed Holidays:                     As outlined on labour.gov.bc.ca – 10 holidays/yr

Prefered Language of work:         English

Education:                                    College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 yearor equivalent experience

Experience:                                   Experience as an asset

Job Duties:

• Prepare patients for dental examinations
• Perform administrative functions for the dental laboratory
• Prepare dental instruments and filling materials
• Design, fabricate or repair dental devices
• Mould wax over dentures set-up
• Sterilize and maintain instruments and equipment
• Educate patients concerning oral hygiene
• Polish teeth and clinical crowns and apply fluoride and sealant
• Schedule and confirm appointments
• Perform intra-oral duties
• Take and develop X-rays
• Record dental procedures performed on patients
• Polish and buff dentures
• Take preliminary impressions for diagnostic casts
