Drywall Installer and Finisher

Terms and Conditions:

  • Permanent, Full-Time (44 hours/week)
  • Overtime, Morning, Day, Weekend.

Salary: $28 per hour. Salary increases based on performance as per company policy.

Anticipated start date: As soon as possible

 

Job requirements:

Language: English

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent

Experience: 3 years of related experience

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Standing for extended periods; Bending, crouching, kneeling; Manual dexterity; Repetitive tasks, Physically demanding; Hand-eye co-ordination, Tight deadlines, Work under pressure, Handling heavy loads, up to 23 kg (50 lbs).

Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots

Personal Suitability: Team player, Judgement, Dependability, Reliability

Work Setting: Residential, Commercial, Urban

Work Site Environment: Dusty

 

Duties:

  • Measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets
  • Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints
  • Smooth out the excess compound and allow the coat to dry
  • Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists
  • Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners
  • Fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound using a trowel or broad knife
  • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound
  • Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place them in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings
  • Apply, level and smooth coats of plaster
  • Cure freshly plastered surfaces
  • Finish corners and angles and create decorative designs in finish coat, if required
  • Attach metal or gypsum lath to studs or furring
  • Install acoustic tile, hangers for suspended ceilings and metal studs for composition wallboard or lath
  • Clean and prepare surfaces
  • Mix plaster ingredients to desired consistency
  • Spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings
  • Cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts and electrical outlets
  • Install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied
  • Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools
  • Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages
