Job description:
Family in Maple, ON, L6A 1Y8 is looking for a Home Support Worker for a 91-year-old male.
- The position is full time.
- The employee is required to be flexible to cover shifts, some weekends. Overtime may be required. Hours will vary from day, night and evenings.
- Salary: $22 per hour
- Hours: 30 hours per week
- Work Site Environment: Non-smoking, Scent free
- Work Location: Must work in employer's/client's home.
- Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): First Aid Certificate; CPR Certificate
Job Duties:
- Assist clients with bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
- Help clients with mobility and physical exercises.
- Perform light housekeeping duties such as cleaning, laundry, and making beds.
- Plan and prepare nutritious meals and assist clients with eating if necessary.
- Provide companionship and engage clients in conversation to alleviate loneliness and improve mental health.
- Accompany clients to appointments and social events to encourage community participation.
- Monitor clients' mental health and report any significant changes to the family and healthcare professionals.
- Maintain a safe, comfortable and caring environment for the senior
Requirements:
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
- Prefer to have previous experience in caregiving and/or previous full-time training in the field.
- Proficient verbal and written English communication skills.
- Must be patient, elderly-friendly with good interpersonal skills.
