Job description:
Prepare and cook traditional African dishes such as soups, stews, rice dishes, grilled meats, and specialty meals
Plan menus and ensure authentic African recipes and flavors are maintained
Prepare ingredients (wash, peel, chop vegetables, season meats, and measure spices)
Monitor food quality, freshness, taste, and presentation
Ensure meals are cooked according to customer orders and restaurant standards
Operate kitchen equipment safely (grills, fryers, ovens, stoves, mixers)
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and food preparation areas
Check inventory and inform management of food and ingredient shortages
Store food properly and follow Canadian food safety regulations
Assist in training kitchen helpers or assistant cooks when needed
Manage portion control and reduce food waste
Ensure timely preparation during busy service periods
Follow health and safety standards set by local public health authorities in Canada
