Job Description – Shipper/Receiver (Construction Industry):
Select appropriate shipping methods and coordinate the shipment of materials; prepare and process shipping documents such as bills of lading, customs forms, and invoices, either manually or using computer systems.
Assemble shipping containers and crates, accurately record contents, securely package goods, and attach shipping labels and handling instructions.
Supervise the loading and unloading of materials and equipment onto trucks or other transport vehicles.
Inspect incoming deliveries to verify accuracy against purchase orders or shipping documents, document any shortages, and reject or report damaged items.
Unpack shipments, assign codes, and direct items to designated storage locations.
Maintain detailed and organized records using manual or computerized inventory and tracking systems.
Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, or other material-handling equipment to move, load, and store goods safely and efficiently.
